Music on the Monument > 2011 Performers

All concerts are held at Monument Square from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be moved indoors to the Red Onion Cafe.

Brian Daniels

Brian Daniels have been wowing audiences since its inception in early 2007 with rock influenced country music. The powerful voice and charisma of leader Brian immediately grabs your attention, and the superb musicianship and vocal harmonies from the rest of the band pushes the whole thing right over the edge.

A love of Country, Rock, and Soul are the ingredients that brought these burgeoning musicians together and a high energy live show ensures that the party is already started.

Full Flavor

Full Flavor was formed in March of 2009. They use their unique style of music when they play their original songs and cover songs. Band members are: Jesse Austin is the lead singer, pervussionist, and harmonica player. Aaron James is the guitarist. Daryl Thomas is the bassist. "Smokin' Joe" is the drummer.

Step-In-Out

Step-In-Out is a motivated, high energy MUST SEE ROCK BAND that performs a variety of exciting music to entertain people of all ages.

Their song list includes very familiar tunes from the past 6 decades in additional to selected inspirational arrangements that will stir many hearts and minds.

 

Because of their unique and diverse programs, the musicians of Starlifter are in great demand both at home and abroad. This group was an overwhelming success in a recent four month humanitarian and civic assistance deployment to seven Central and South America and Caribbean countries. They performed for more than 34,000 people in over 90 performances. In El Salvador, 4,000 listeners stood and cheered through a two-hour performance, and in Nicaragua, 500 shouting orphaned children sang out.

"The best music I've ever heard" is how one young listener described the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America's variety show group, Starlifter. This seven-piece group of talented musicians performs in virtually every musical idiom, from jazz to country, to great contemporary and traditional patriotic songs. They feature the best in popular music from the 1940's to the most current sounds at the top of today's charts.

James Yorgan Sextet

The James Yorgan Sextet perform standards and jazz from the swing era to contemporary jazz from artists George Benson, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter and Grover Washington Jr.

Leading the band on bass is Jim Yorgan. Other members of the band include Mick Heberling (drums), Dave Sturino (keyboards), Tom Meredith (trumpet), Dave Ferguson (trombone) and Pat Odell (reeds).

Night Wing

Night Wing is a local music trio that specializes in a high energy and vibrant visual presentaiton of variety dance music.

Ron Weller is the founder of Night Wing and is featured on keyboard, saxophone and vocals. Kristi Fenkl has been with Night Wing for over 6 years and is the featured "front" vocalist. Dana Petit is the newest member of the band, joining the group in January of 2010. She covers everything from Patsy Cline, Janis Joplin, Gretchen wilson and even Bon Jovi.

Roy Edwards Group Therapy Band

Group Therapy blends elements of rock, r&b, funk and reggae with the power of the blues. Band members are Roy Edwards, vocals and drums, Mike DeRose on guitar and Jack Kammien on bass guitar.

Mean Jake

(rock and roll)

Mean Jake is a band that defies description, playing music ranging from obscure southern blues to Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones.  They have entertained groups large and small, playing such gigs as the International BMW Bike rally in Flint, Michigan to the Harley-Davidson Swap Meet at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Members of the band are Craig Aude on vocals and harmonica, Brian Kubowski on guitar, Greg McFarland on bass and Richie Schommer on drums.

Saturday Night Preachers

The Saturday Night Preachers is a non-typical family band with instrumentation that seemingly lends itself to be a bluegrass band, yet the Saturday Night Preachers have managed to keep their music from being categorized as bluegrass alone. While understanding the tradition in bluegrass, the band has infused other styles bringing them a sound that can be defined in multiple genres. Having been referred to as Alt Country/Folk/Americana, the band's original songs commonly fit into any or all of those categories.

Road Less Traveled

Road Less Traveled is an acoustic-electric trio from Southeastern Wisconsin that blends folk, rock and jazz with rich vocal harmonies.

Members of the band are Randy Schneider, lead guitar and vocals; Laura Kassel, keyboard and vocals; and Mike Goff, drums.

Lake Effect

Lake Effect was formed 15 years ago by Eddie Muniz and Bennet Olsen.  Today the band consists of Muniz (keyboards); Olsen (saxophone); Mike DeRose (guitar); Dwyne Williams (bass), Robert Figueroa (percussion) and Glenn Williams (drums). 

This group of sought-after session musicians has opened for performers such as Spiro Gyra, Janet Planet and Kim Waters.  Together their sound suggests The Yellow Jackets, David Sanborn and Marcus Miller.
