2019 Public Art Project
We are excited to announce that the theme to 2019’s Public Art Project will be Benches featuring Racine’s Past, Present and Future. For the 18th Annual Public Art Project, we are partnering with the Veteran’s Outreach of Wisconsin. Veteran’s from the tiny house village will be building the benches and a portion of the proceeds will go directly back to the Veteran’s Outreach.
Why Community Art?
Community art creates attachment to one’s community! Cities gain value through community art – cultural, social and economic value. It reflects and reveals our society, adds meaning to our cities and uniqueness to our communities. Community art provides an intersection between past, present and future, between disciplines, and between ideas.
Call for Artists
The Downtown Racine Corporation is currently seeking artists to create unique, kid‐and family‐friendly designs that will ultimately become bench art. For the 2019 program, the benches will be based on the theme of “Racine: Past, Present and Future.” If you are interested in becoming one of the artists, please complete the application below:
Each year, businesses like you play a vital role in the success of our annual Public Art project in Downtown Racine celebrating its 18th year. The community art provides an excellent opportunity to showcase our thriving art community, shops, galleries, museums, restaurants and beautiful lake-front by attracting thousands of visitors to the area throughout the summer months. We are confident that this year’s art piece will continue the tradition. If you are interested in sponsoring one of the public art benches, please complete the application below:
