Downtown Racine is bordered by a host of industrial leaders, including SC Johnson, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of household products. The company recently unveiled Fortaleza Hall, a new building at its international headquarters which honors the spirit of adventure and highlights the Johnson family’s two landmark expeditions to Brazil. The first was in 1935 by H.F. Johnson Jr. and the second in 1998 by the late fourth-generation leader Sam Johnson and his sons Fisk and Curt. Fortaleza Hall tells visitors a story of adventure – one of value, commitment and doing what’s right.
Designed by the world-renowned architectural firm of London-based Foster + Partners, Fortaleza Hall is a contemporary partner to the innovative Frank Lloyd Wright buildings on its campus The building is constructed under the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program. A visit to Fortaleza Hall is an inspirational and historical experience for residents and tourists alike.
Like the impressive buildings and abundant opportunities found throughout Downtown, this new architectural destination celebrates the adventures of Racine’s forefathers and promotes the soaring potential of our community’s future.

Pictured above is Racine’s newest architectural landmark Fortaleza Hall, which is on the SC Johnson campus just south of Downtown Racine. The central visual piece of the building is the Johnson family's replica twin-engine S-38 amphibious plane, suspended from the ceiling in Fortaleza Hall. It is the plane that Sam Johnson and his sons, Fisk and Curt, flew to Fortaleza, Brazil, in 1998 to re-enact the trip that Sam's father, H.F. Johnson Jr., made in 1935.
