Downtown Racine’s popular First Fridays continue on Friday, August 6 from 6-9 p.m.   Join family and friends for a fun-filled evening of great music, dynamite dining, superb shopping, horse-drawn carriage rides and more.  There’s fun for the whole family!

Outdoor musical highlights include:

  • Mean Jake at Monument Square (pictured to the right)

  • The Schoettler Saxophone Ensemble at Main Street’s Crosswalk Park   

  • Corey Nietupski of Avedia Band doing an acoustic show on Sixth Street. 

Be sure to visit your favorite Downtown spots and enjoy these specials:

  • Your Yoga Lifestyle is offering Family Yoga from 5:15 – 6 p.m. for children ages 6+ with parent or grandparent.  $20/family of 2-4 participants.
  • Local singer/songwriter Jeff Ward will perform at Molly Magruder.  Guests can also meet Barkley from Central Bark Doggie Daycare; enjoy free raffles and take advantage of summer sales on regular and consignment stock. 
  • Artistry Furniture and Gift Gallery will be offering a 20% off storewide sale (some exclusions apply).
  • Uncorkt be offering complimentary wine tasting from 6 – 8 p.m.
  • Art Metals Studio will be offering the chance to win a $50 gift certificate or one of 5 Downtown Fun Books, as well as homemade treats!
  • Fired Up! Racine has a “paint a GECKO” wall plaque workshop from 6 – 8:30 p.m. with instructions on dotting and spatter techniques. Kids 7 and up may attend with or without parents; cost is $20.
  • Photographic Design Studio and Gallery will have painter, Kathleen Lippold, as their guest artist with an opening reception from 6-9 p.m.
  • Artists Gallery will present an incredible all new collection of members’ works with featured member artist Marilu McCartney.  There will be an artist reception, live music by The Mike Britz Trio and the opening of the third annual 10x10 silent auction, all packed into three hours from 6 – 9 p.m.
  • Enjoy free admission into the Racine Art Museum with extended hours from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.   At 7 p.m. go behind-the-scenes at RAM with internationally recognized glass artist Matt Eskuche who carefully recreates all of the “trash” in his installations using a variety of medium, but mainly relies on Italian glass working traditions. In addition, RAM's Awesome Art Sale offers the opportunity to purchase original, museum-quality artwork by well-known artists at affordable prices.
  • Hot Shop Glass artisans will create blown glass art before your eyes with demonstrations from 6 – 8:30 p.m. 
  • Salute Italian Restaurant is offering a complimentary glass of wine or dessert with any two entrees ordered.
  • Evelyn’s Club Main will be featuring the wonderful and talented Night Wing from 8 – 10 p.m.
  • At Northern Lights Gallery,  Macyn Taylor will be providing the entertainment.
  • Pink Magnolia Restaurant and Lounge offers a free piece of cheesecake with the purchase of two entrees; $2 can domestic beers and $2 off martini menu.
  • Top Dog Hot Dog  has added a new item to their menu - First Friday’s Footlong! This delicious dog is only $2.99, or top it with chili and cheese for just 50 cents more.
  • Henry & Wanda’s  will present The Mike Murphy Trio from 8:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. 
  • Plumb Gold Ltd. is featuring new designs from Ed Levin, Frank Reubel, Claude Thibaudeau and Judy K. Olsen. Register to win a beautiful piece of sterling silver jewelry.
  • At Dunn Bros Coffee meet with author Daniel L. Stika from 6 – 9 p.m. for his book signing: "When Lincoln Met Wisconsin's Nightingale, Cordelia Harvey's Campaign for Civil War Soldier Care". Also,see a barista for a free Wherther's Coffee flavored candy or one of five flavors of delicious chocolate truffles. No purchase necessary!!!
  • DP Wigley & Hop To It will break out some new selections of locally made brews for tasting! 
  • Funky Hannah’s has fun earring-making demonstrations all evening!  Let the funky gals show you how easy it is to make your own fashionable beaded jewelry!
  • Blessings of Racine. Hope for Africa. A Friend in Need, Inc. photo exhibit and fundraiser featuring the photos of Tracie Sttier-Johnson. A fundraising event will be held at Avenue Gallery & Frame to help provide backpacks filled with school supplies to children who otherwise have nothing.
