Auction of the 2017 Public Art Pieces

September 9, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

This year, we had artists design a total of 25 sail boats and “Chris Craft” style boats for the Public Art Project. They are currently on display outside of businesses along Main and 6th Streets. Now is your chance to own one of those original works of art.

Join us at Paul P. Harris Rotary Park (Formally Festival Park) for an auction of all 25 of the Public Art boats. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Downtown Racine Corporation and our mission to enhance downtown Racine. Admission is FREE, but an RSVP would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure to stop by to see which boats won the judging! The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place artists will win cash prizes for their hard work and creativity!

Proxy Bidders are available for those that cannot join us in person that day. Please contact Lois Braun at 262-634-6002 or at lbraun@racinedowntown.com

Is there a preview so we can see the sailboats in one setting and are the sailboats on show outside the Racine stores at this time (August 29th)?
Is this also a donation and can we write the purchase of a sailboat off as a tax deduction?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

      Hi Linda,

All 25 of the boats are currently on display here at our office at 425 Main Street. They will remain on display for another week before we move them to Festival Hall for the auction on the 9th.

In regards to tax deduction: Anything over the hard cost of the boat is tax deductible. In this case, anything over $1,000 would be eligible to be written off as a donation. Hope this helps!
