BONK!sgiving @ The Eco-Justice Center
November 4, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
BONK! is teaming up with the Eco-Justice Center, Family Power Music, and What’s Up Racine for an all ages event. Held at the Eco-Justice Center, 7133 Michna Road, Racine, WI; BONK!sgiving will be held from 6-8pm. Admission is free but donations to Eco-Justice Center are encouraged.
BONK!sgiving will be a pot luck event. Please bring your favorite dish to pass, especially vegan food. Vegan food doesn’t have to be fancy. To be considered vegan, a dish cannot have any meat, dairy, eggs, honey, or animal products (such as most gelatin). A few outlets will be available for food which needs to be kept hot. Cups, plates, silverware, beverages and supplies for s’mores will be provided.
There will also be a cake to celebrate and give thanks for Sister Janet Wyeker’s 13 years of service with Eco-Justice Center as executive director and volunteer coordinator. A book will be available for you to share your memories and photos of Sister Janet.
Children will be able to participate in a host of campfire games and activities. They are also welcome to wear their Halloween costumes. Starting at 7pm, there will be a large drum circle where everyone can come together and make music. Feel free to bring your own percussion or acoustic instruments. Other instruments will be provided to those who don’t have one.
Created to expose the public to both local and nationally recognized artistic talents, the BONK! series showcases poets, writers, musicians, filmmakers and all sorts of talent in between. Founded in fall of 2008, the BONK! series has been running with an event every month for over nine years now. A completely free program, BONK! aims to have its events at a different location in Racine every month to help introduce people to the many amazing businesses, venues and historic institutions throughout the county.
BONK! is made possible by the The Racine Public Library, the Osborne and Scekic Family Foundation, the Friends of the Racine Public Library, Olympia Brown Universalist Unitarian Church, Olde Madrid restaurant and an Artseed grant from The Racine Arts Council.
