Holiday Parade and Community Tree Lighting Ceremony
November 10 @ 5:30 pmFree
Join us as we kick off the holiday season on Saturday, November 10th for the Downtown Racine Corporation’s 17th annual Holiday Parade and Community Tree Lighting Ceremony.
New this year, the pre-parade festivities presented by David Insurance, will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Monument Square. Racine-based vocal group, Bounding Main, is set to perform a unique blend of maritime and holiday themed songs. Since forming in 2003, they have been performing shows filled with spirit, humor and harmony all over the United States and Europe. Local 12-year-old singing sensation and winner of 2018 Racine’s Got Talent, Alahna Rae, will then lead us up to the parade with a few songs of her own! In addition to the pre-parade musical performances, there will be balloon twisting for the kids along with hot chocolate and cookies for sale.
At 5:30 p.m. the parade officially begins as dancers, carolers, characters and Santa Claus himself will be in attendance. Other exciting entries include a Norwegian Viking boat by Sons of Norway, decorated tractors by CNH Industrial and the crowd favorite, “Big Cart” by Festival Foods. Make sure the kids bring their letters to Santa. The United States Postal Service mail carriers will be walking the parade route collecting these letters making sure they arrive at the North Pole in time for Christmas.
Immediately after the parade, join us back on Monument Square for a few more holiday performances by Park High School Choir and an encore by Alahna Rae. Wrapping up the night will be the lighting of our Community Holiday Tree with Mayor Cory Mason, sponsored by Festival Foods.
Once again this year, our Holiday Parade falls on the weekend of Veteran’s Day. To honor our Veterans, there will be American Flags handed out on Monument Square during the pre-parade, presented by Joey’s West, Lathrop and Taylor. We will lead off the parade with a Veteran’s Salute by the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. Join us as we thank them for all they have done and continue to do in service for our country.
Also new to this year’s Holiday Parade and Community Tree Lighting Ceremony, we will be hosting a Warm Accessories Drive to provide essential winter items like scarves, gloves, mittens and hats for area charities. Items can be dropped off at Monument Square anytime from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. As the weather gets colder, it is crucial that we do our part as a community to help the less fortunate. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated! If you cannot make the parade, donation drop off sites through November 20th include:
- Downtown Racine Corporation: 425 Main Street
- Indian Motorcycle of Racine: 522 6th Street
